In the world of Japanese sake, “hiya” doesn’t just mean “cold.”
Traditionally, “hiya” refers to sake served at room temperature (about 15–25°C / 59–77°F).

However, nowadays many people use “hiya” to mean cold sake from the fridge, which is technically called “reishu.”
